What seems to be the reason is, that it is necessary to close the IDE and have it close in this way the COM-port before i.e. switching the power supply of Steprocker off.

Furthermore I have finally succeeded to install the *.inf file by using the update driver in the hardware manager for the seriell device in Windows 7

Thank you for the feedback Helmut.

Surely, this is interesting for other W7 64b Ultimate users.

This is to report that even without ever knowingly succedding in implementing the driver I can now access the board and work with it. To say it clearly, the board and the software fully meets my expectations. Thanks.

What I did that I belive lead to a change of the situation was to execute step 10 of the guideline, stepRockerBoot.exe and than I could continue executing the list of actions in the guideline.

stepRockerBoot.exe brought up a GUI refering to "com 8". Looking under "Anschlüsse (COM & LPT) I use a german system 7 64 bits Ultimate, StepRocker was listed under this seccion!

What happens is that once in a while the IDE cannot access the StepRocker Module, reporting missing port or occupied board. Only a restart of windows fixes this.

I did ask for your support there already. His process has not helped neither there, nor after following the steps of the guideline here. This is sad!

My green StepRocker continues to be seen as a mass storage device and not as the TMCM-1110 StepRocker!

Basically, step 8 should be repeatable as it is just powering on the device. After the LEDs have come to rest, the file you copied before is written into the flash as startup code (a small bootloader).

Did you already try the driver installation procedure as done by user Alberto in this thread? He also uses W7 64bit. Now the stepRocker should not be seen as Mass Storage device but as TMCM-1110 stepRocker.

Stephan

I would like to disconnect my StepRocker and my PC in a foreseeable future. I am waiting for a response, as you adviced that this can only be done once!

Hi Stepan

I have proceeded as requested and copied the image file to the steprocker reported as mass storage device. I still cannot do step 9 of the guideline to "Initialize the USB interface".

I am leaving the setup with the the steprocker as of step 8 waiting for your response!

The error report in German is:

„Diese Installationsmethode wird von der ausgewählten Inf-Datei nicht unterstützt.”

I have sent you a PM with my phone number!

Regards Hellmut

Helmut,

Do you have a green PCB version or a blue PCB version of the stepRocker?

Mocontronic was one of the first testers of the board. Some boards still had a preliminary firmware without complete USB support. It seems to me that a board with pre-series firmware has been shipped to you.

Anyway, there may be an option to update the firmware with full USB support. Please head to this forum thread and download all the material. Follow the steps in the update guideline. This update can only be done once!

This will update the firmware to a state where you can access the stepRocker via USB. Afterwards, you can read out the firmware version with the TMCL-IDE tool and programm the latest update available in our firmware section. But first use the update in the given link.

Stephan

Hi Stephan

I placed the order with Mocontronic on December 7th, 2011 and got the board shipped shortly after. I have suffered a stroke, so that just now I can engage again into my work. The work with the Steprocker is a nice excercise to start with.

No, I have no RS485 available.

Best regards Hellmut

Helmut,

where did you get your stepRocker from?

Can you connect via RS485?

I have tried on another PC with Windows 7 64 bits Ultimate, same problems. May be the version I purchsed was delivered without a working USB firmware? How to proceed? I have als followed the recomendations of Alberto, no success either. The device is recognized only as a masstorage device. I have als followed the recomendation to connect the USB only after having powered the StepRocker with 12VDC. This is really getting sad!

Hello Helmut,

basically, the available driver works with W7 64bit. We have a workstation running W7 and have the stepRocker connected.

There may be issues with the Enterprise version. Can it be that this windows version accepts certified drivers only? Our driver is not officially Microsoft certified.

Best regards,
S. Kubisch

I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit and I can´t get the driver installed. Does it work with this version of Windows? I have a 12VDC power supply connected to the StepRocker and the drive shaft of the stepper can´t be moved manually, so the StepRocker is active and having the stepper holding its position.

Hi Stephan,

Yes, i do configure correctly and driver is properly installed.

Below is a screenshot i took previously when i met problem with upgrading the firmware.

It shows my computer device manager is able to recognize TMCM-1110 with COM3.

Sorry, i didn't take all screenshot when I'm doing the testing.

But i do try again this morning (18-Jan-12) and was OK with everything now on my and others PC. I'm sure all procedures and settings are the same as before (12-Jan-12).

Thank you for your assist and really appreciate.

Sorry for the trouble.

Best regards,

Wei Shun

Hello Wei Shun,

did you properly configure the interface / choose the right interface in the TMCL-IDE before connecting to the module? Is the stepRocker VCOM interface driver properly installed?

Please post screenshots.

Are the three PCs equal from a hardware point of view?

Best Regards,

Stephan

Hi,

My stepRocker is updated to firmware ver1.01.

At first when I'm upgrading the firmware to ver1.01 i face a problem with my PC shown below.

But after that i tired on my colleague's PC and it success.

Now i have a problem which out of 3 PC (Colleague 1, Colleague 2 & my) only 1 is working fine with USB communication.

Colleague 1’s PC

This is the one able to success update firmware.

And it’s the only one working fine.

Colleague 2’s PC

It’s unable to update firmware.

In TMCL-IDE Ver 2.03

- Unable download program

- Search module unable to find

- When click direct mode, it ask to select module type as colleague 1’s PC don’t.

And I try executing rotate right with 50 step/sec and motor stop, it gives me below error but the module does react.

All PC is running Windows XP Professional Ver 2002 SP3.

Can you kindly advice what do I need to check for those unable to communicate?

Best regards,

Wei Shun
